Eno and turmeric science experiment |
Eno is an antacid that is commonly used to relieve acidity
and heartburn. Turmeric is a spice that has many health benefits due to its
anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. While there is no scientific
experiment specifically combining Eno and turmeric, here is an experiment that
you can do to observe the chemical reaction between Eno and vinegar:
Materials:
* Eno sachet
* Vinegar
* Turmeric powder
* Clear glass or container
* Spoon
* Water
Procedure:
1-Fill the glass or container with about 1/4 cup of vinegar.
2-Add a pinch of turmeric powder to the vinegar and stir.
3-Wait for a few minutes and observe the color of the mixture. Turmeric will turn the solution yellow.
4-Add an Eno sachet to the mixture and stir. You will notice a fizzing reaction due to the reaction between the Eno and the vinegar. This is because Eno contains sodium bicarbonate and citric acid, which react to produce carbon dioxide gas.
5-Observe the color of the mixture again. The turmeric will turn red or orange due to the change in pH caused by the reaction between the Eno and vinegar.
This experiment can help demonstrate the chemical reaction between an antacid and an acid, as well as the effect of pH on the color of turmeric.
