Fire on a water science experiment

The "fire on water" experiment is a popular demonstration of the chemistry of combustion. The experiment involves creating a small flame that appears to burn on the surface of water. Here are the steps to perform this experiment:

Materials:

 * A heat-resistant container

 * Water

 * A source of fuel (such as rubbing alcohol or cooking oil)

* A long-handled lighter or match

Instructions:

 1- Fill the heat-resistant container with water until it is about 3/4 full.

 2- Add a small amount of fuel (such as rubbing alcohol or cooking oil) to the surface of the water.

 3- Light the fuel on fire with a long-handled lighter or match. The fuel will burn on the surface of the water, creating a small flame.

 4- You can use a flat metal or ceramic object (such as a plate or lid) to extinguish the flame by covering the surface of the water with it. The lack of oxygen will cause the flame to go out.

It's important to note that this experiment should only be performed under adult supervision and in a well-ventilated area. Always exercise caution when handling flammable materials and open flames.
